Before you read...

You will be assigned a partner to present one of the following topics orally to the class by Monday, September 17th.  You can work individually, but you will present together.  Remember that your research topic may refer to Ireland, Dublin, and/or James Joyce.

1. You will begin to research your topic in the computer lab. Each student must research the topic, and then compare thier research with their partner's. Students will take their research home to create their poster.

2. You should include citations/bibliography on their poster. (We will learn APA style in class: Be sure to use it for citations!)

3. You will give a two-minute presentation based on the shared findings.

4. Students in the audience should take notes, as I will be creating multiple choice and/or short answer quiz questions based on each
presentation.

TOPIC #1:  WHO IS JAMES JOYCE?
TOPIC #2:  CATHOLICISM AND IRELAND
TOPIC #3: IRISH MUSIC

Chris Rael wrote songs for each of the short stories in Dubliners.

Extra credit for those who interprets one of his songs and make connections with the stories.
Remember to give me exact quotes from the song to make your comparisons!
The Dead:
Gabriel Conroy and wife Greta attend a Christmas dinner with friends at the home of his spinster aunts, an evening which results in an epiphany for both of them.
This is the link to the movie for those who want to review!
Araby:  A story of a first love
“When she addressed the first words to me I was so confused that I did not know what to answer. She asked me if I was going to Araby. I forget whether I answered yes or no.”

Have a look here at Farrington and his friends enjoying their
liquid lunches:

Use this short summary of  "A Mother" set to music
