Multicultural Fair April 13, 2012

  Here at ESIS we are lucky enough to have students from over thirty-five different countries.  
Let’s have a fair to celebrate the positive aspects of the different cultures here!  

Goals:
You will become familiar with other cultures here at ESIS and will have a chance to celebrate these cultures. 

Picture
  Students’ presentations will reflect: 

1. You will research the region and culture of your country.
2. You will prepare at least one typical food from your country.
3. You will also show products, music, dance, celebrations, typical clothing (such as wearing something typical on the day of the fair.)  You may also make a model or a film showing what your country is like.
4. Bring a big map of your country
5. Have a poster with five important words
                                                  6.  You will make a poster that contains: 

                                                      o   Your country and region
                                                      o   Culture
                                                      o   An important author from their country. (Literature Connection)
                                                      o   You may include other factual information that they think might be interesting or       

                                                           important. (ideas are welcome!)
                                                      o   Pictures!

Students will present their country, region, and culture at the Multicultural Fair and will be judged and asked questions by the judges. There will be a winner!

Please follow these dates carefully:


Due, Friday February 8th:  Research for poster –  Packet Page 1-3 

Due Friday, February 15th – Outline of posters (Packet page 4)

Due March 1th: Posters, Language Sign, map of country, flag due (page 5 packet)  

March 15th: Meet to talk about what typical objects to bring (page 5 & 6 packet)

March 22: Meet to make posters for fair to post around campus, sign for entrance and decorate bulletin board

March 22 – April 2 Spring Break – Get any materials you might want!

April 5th: Products from your country due. 

TBA:  Meet to make invitations (page 7 packet) 

TBA:  Practicing your speeches (page 8 packet)
